What Happens When Someone Scans Your QR Tag

When a person scans your tag, they are taken to a secure, public-facing webpage hosted by MyTags. This page is designed to be simple, fast, and helpful.

The Public Page Experience

  1. Safety First: The page is served over HTTPS and does not reveal your personal contact info (email/phone) directly.

  2. Asset Details:

    • Name: The descriptive name you gave the item.

    • Description: The helpful text you wrote (e.g., "Please help me return this...").

    • Public Notes: Any notes you marked as "Public" (e.g., medical info, reward details).

  3. Language Support: The page detects the finder's browser language but also offers a language selector (English, Hindi, etc.) to ensure clear communication.

Location Sharing

Upon loading, the page asks the finder for permission to share their location.

  • If allowed: We record the precise GPS coordinates and show it to you on a map.

  • If denied: We record the approximate IP-based location instead.

Privacy

  • No Login Required: The finder does not need to download an app or create an account.

  • Secure Communication: All messages are routed through our platform to your private dashboard/email/integrations.
