How to Create an Asset

Creating an asset is the first step to protecting your belongings. When you create an asset, you build a digital profile for your item that can be linked to a QR tag.

Step 1: Open the Create Dialog

  1. Navigate to the Assets page from the sidebar.

  2. Click the Create Asset button (or "Create your first asset" if you have none).

Step 2: Fill in Asset Details

The detailed form will appear. Fill in the following information:

Basic Information

  • Asset Name: Give your item a clear, recognizable name (e.g., "MacBook Pro", "Red Travel Suitcase").

  • Asset Type: Select the category that best fits your item from the dropdown menu (e.g., Electronics, Luggage, Vehicle, Pet).

Special Fields

Depending on the asset type you select, you might see additional fields:

  • Registration Number: If you select a vehicle (Car, Truck, Motorcycle), you must provide the registration number (minimum 4 characters).

  • Specify Asset Type: If you select "Other", you'll need to type in what the item is.

Step 3: Add a Description (AI Powered)

The description is what people will see if they scan your tag. You can write this yourself, or let our AI write it for you.

To use the AI Generator:

  1. Ensure you've entered an Asset Name and selected an Asset Type.

  2. Click the Generate button (wand icon) above the description box.

  3. (Optional) Select a language from the dropdown if you want the description in a specific language (defaults to English).

  4. The AI will automatically write a friendly message for finders.

Tip: A good description encourages finders to contact you. For example: "This is my trusted travel backpack. If found, please help me get it back!"

Your new asset will now appear in your dashboard once saved, ready to be linked to a QR tag!

Common Issues

Problem: "Registration number is required" error.

Solution: If you selected a vehicle type, you must provide a valid registration number. This helps verify ownership if your vehicle is found.

Problem: "Description must be at least 10 characters".

Solution: Please ensure your description is helpful and descriptive enough for someone who finds your item.
