Understanding Notifications

MyTags is designed to keep you informed. Here is a deep dive into the information you receive when an alert is triggered.

1. Asset Scanned

This is a standard "passive" alert. It means someone pointed their camera at your tag but hasn't necessarily contacted you yet.

What you receive:

  • Asset Name: Which item was scanned.

  • Time: Exact date and time of the scan.

  • IP Location: Approximate city/country based on the scanner's internet connection (only if the person provides location access, as privacy is our top priority for both parties).

What it means:

  • Someone found your item!

  • Or, someone is just curious about your tag.

2. Asset Reported

This is an "active" alert. The person scanned the tag AND filled out the "Contact Owner" form.

What you receive:

  • Finder's Message: A custom note from the person (e.g., "Left at the front desk").

  • Contact Info: Their phone number (if provided).

  • Reason: Why they are contacting you (Found Item, Damage Report, etc.).

  • Photos: They can upload a photo of the item/location.

  • Precise Location: If they granted GPS permission, you will see a pin on the map.

Notification Channels

Where do these alerts go?

  2. Email: Sent to your registered email address.

  3. Integrations: Sent to Slack or Webhooks if you have configured them.

  4. WhatsApp (Coming Soon): Sent directly to your phone.
